EAST HAMPTON LANDFILL'S TOXIC PLUME
The full boundaries of the toxic plume that seems to be emanating from the East Hampton Landfill located in the Springs area of East Hampton, is unknown, and at one point it has spread 1500 feet across and appears to be heading directly to the community of Springs; it has spread underground beneath the golf course as far as Abraham's Path. It is likely to reach Three Mile Harbor where it could threaten the estuarine ecology. (See: Newsletter, Summer 2002)
