Environmental Working Group:
"In a study led by the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, in
collaboration with the Environemental Working Group and Commonweal,
researches at two major laboratories found an average of 91 industrial
compounds, pollutants, and other chemicals in the blood and urine of
nine volunteers," [one of whom was the investigative news
commentator, Bill Moyers] "with a total of 167 chemicals found in the group. Like
most of us, the people tested do not work with chemcials on the job and
do not live near an industrial facility." The chemicals found in their
bodies are linked to the following health impacts: cancer; birth
defects/developmental delays; vision; hormone system; stomach or
intestines; kidney; brain, nervous system; reproductive system;
lungs/breathing; skin; liver; cardiovascular system or blood; hearing;
immune system, male reproductive system; female reproductive system. To
