B & C Golf Course - East Hampton
The B & C Golf Course, situated in the Stony Hill area of Amagansett sits over the Stony Hill aquifer, a critical deep-water recharge area and designated as a New York State Special Groundwater Protection Area. The golf course was approved without a full environmental review. Many of the chemicals used on its turf will most likely leach into the groundwater at some point. As East Hampton does not have the volume of water that Southampton town has in its groundwater reserves, it needs to implement wise land use planning and regulations in critical areas such as these.
